Cookie policy
Which cookies we use, what they’re for and how to change your choice.

Draft pending legal review. The text is complete and describes what the service actually does, but a lawyer has to review it before it counts as final. One piece of information is also missing: the company isn’t incorporated yet, so its legal name, registered address and tax number aren’t here.
1. What cookies are
They’re small files a site stores in your browser. They make sessions work, remember what you choose and, if you allow it, measure usage. Here we also call cookies anything stored with similar browser technologies.
2. Cookies we use
This table is generated from the same configuration as the cookie panel, so the two can’t disagree.
| Cookie | What it’s for | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remembering your cookie choice and, if you accept preference cookies, your language | Essential · Preferences | 12 months | |
| Remember which free scans were started from this browser, so whoever started one sees their offer and options. It stores a signature of each scan, not its link | Essential | 3 months | |
| Keep you logged in to your Fathom Audit account. If you don't tick “Keep me logged in”, it's deleted when you close your browser | Essential | 30 days | |
| Remember which address we sent your code to while you finish creating your account. It's signed and stores nothing else | Essential | 1 hour |
3. Essential cookies
These are the ones the site needs to work and to remember what you choose in the panel. They can’t be turned off: remembering that you said no also has to be stored somewhere, or we’d ask you again on every visit.
4. Preferences and analytics
They only switch on if you accept them and you can refuse them without losing any feature. Preference cookies remember your language; analytics tells us which pages get used most, without identifying you. The tool we use measures without cookies and is hosted in the European Union.
5. How to change your choice
Use the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, which opens the same panel you saw at the start. You can also delete or block cookies from your browser settings; if you delete them, we’ll ask you again.
6. How long they last
The ones we set expire within the time shown in the table, and never last more than thirteen months. When they expire we ask you again.
7. Changes
If we add or remove cookies, we’ll update this page. When a new category is added we’ll ask you again, because what you chose before says nothing about it.
